"Form follows function" is a phrase often quoted which originated from the Bauhaus School of Design. The Bauhaus style was marked by the absence of ornamentation and by a harmony between the function and its design. The 19th century English designer William Morris, held that art should meet the needs of society and that there should be no distinction between form and function.

The function of charging and synchronization with iTunes is contained in a form of acrylic and anodized aluminum, The proportional balance of length to width follows roughly the "Golden Mean". Add some curves, straight lines and colors and you have something that is pleasing to the eye. It works and it looks a part of 21st century decor.
