Observations

Looking at the nature of Technology from a big picture, there are two things that are not immediately obvious.

One: Technology tells us what it wants. We respond to the needs of technology as well as create it. Technology has the character of being organic - a living enitity. Describing this character is a new book by Kevin Kelly entitled "What Technology Wants". The i-Charger line is a product example of such a response.

Two: Electrical energy is a growing requirement. All our energy derives from the Sun. Coal and Oil were the great batteries of the 19th and 20th centuries. It took millions of years for the sun to charge up these batteries. At the beginning of the 21st century with a growing energy requirement we are still using these storage mediums. The CO2 emissions from them are playing havoc with the earths temperature and the PH of the oceans. Sunlight converted to electricity, stored in lithium batteries is an almost instant means to electrical power in comparison. All around us we see alternative energy installations, it is encouraging.
